Tasting Note:
The nose shouts merlot, in a big warm jammy hug of red berries, chocolate, coffee, and possibly cab franc leafiness and tobacco. Oaky and extracted, this is somewhat obviously I might hazard a garage wine of a certain era, and since I don’t buy them, I don’t even know if the genre has survived the Parker backlash. Yet there’s no denying that Parker-driven hedonistic hallmark of ripe fruit and oak that still persists and provides drinking pleasure of the just lie back and enjoy it variety. Positively plush in the mouth, with fully integrated tannins just waving you on. If the labeled ABV is accurate plus or minus, that’s what saves this from utter palate destruction, and lets a garage-o-phobe like me drink it without too much complaint. Three to five more years if she’s your type.
